Week 4 – AFL
Hey everyone, assignments, essays and datelines starting to weight you down? Have no fear! Join us this weekend to scream your worries away at a traditional Australia sporting event – the AFL football game!
This is a game of skills, emotions, passions and lots of excitement!
Come along with Unimates for one of the most epic games of the season! Root for Sydney Swans (our local team) as they play against Western Bulldogs at Sydney Cricket Ground (close to Moore Park). In order for the Swans or Bulldogs to advance to the play-offs (AFL Finals Series), either one of them has to win this game. In the previous season, Bulldogs crushed the Swans in the Finals Series. Who will advance to the Finals this time? Come and root for the Swannies!
Date: Saturday, 21 August 2010.Place: Meet at Central Station. We will catch a train to Sydney Cricket Ground.
Time: Meet around 5:30pm. (Game starts at 7:10pm).

Non Access – $18
The ticket includes BOTH the entry fee for the game, AND the return train ticket from Central Station to Sydney Cricket Ground.
What you need to bring: Camera, money (for transport/snacks), Student ID (extremely important, as Unimates purchased student concession tickets), red and white garments if you support the Swannies and unlimited passion!

Other information: Please find a short guide to AFL attached. We hope this will help you understand the basics if you are totally new to this game!
Major Event during semester break
As we keep the major event in secret in our leaflets and website, are you looking forward to our MAJOR EVENT in the mid-semester break?
It’s still early, but we’re in the process of organizing a simple and relaxing three day getaway to Melbourne in the mid-semester break (after week 9). Currently few things have been finalized, but we’d like check for interest in joining such a trip. Roughly you can expect to pay between $150-$200, which includes transport, accommodation and some simple activities that will show you some highlights of this beautiful city. Because Melbourne is a place with a wide range of different eating options, food will (probably) not be included in the price- it’s better to just go out and explore the great restaurants yourself!
Please fill in the following survey (click HERE) so we can gauge the level of interest and begin making some bookings.
